Trama
In early 1960s Dublin, Alfie Byrne (Albert Finney), a middle-aged bus conductor, leads a closeted life due to his homosexuality and faces disapproval from society. His passion lies in producing amateur theater productions at the local church hall. When he decides to stage Oscar Wilde's controversial play 'Salome', he encounters resistance from the church authorities, his sister who wants him to marry 'the right girl', and even some of his friends in the production cast.
