Criminal psychiatrist Jake Nyman embarks on an experimental road trip where every decision is made by flipping a coin. Meanwhile, Sandra Thomas, a disenchanted professional, is traveling to pick up her sister Alice at a motel before visiting their ailing mother. After being forced off the road by an unknown assailant, Sandra meets Jake who picks her up.
