Trama
During World War II, a Greek fisherman named Mandras leaves his fiancée Pelagia and their idyllic island life to join the fight against the invading Italians. While he's away, Pelagia's life is forever changed when Captain Corelli, an Italian garrison commander with a love for music, arrives on the island. Despite the initial hostility between Greeks and Italians, Captain Corelli fosters a spirit of mutual respect and even camaraderie among the islanders. He becomes especially close to Pelagia and her family, eventually falling in love with her. Meanwhile, Mandras returns home injured and bitter after Italy surrenders to the Allies and changes sides in the war, leading to a complicated triangle between him, Pelagia, and Captain Corelli.
