Jessica Hamilton travels to Venice for a piano competition but arrives late and finds herself without accommodation or a place in the contest. She befriends Luca Renosto, a local boy of her age, who initially takes care of her. However, Alvise Contrarini, the director of the competition, also shows interest in Jessica.
