Storia
La dame de Monsoreau begins with Diane of Meridor, a young woman living happily with her father. At her coming out ball, arranged by the much older Count of Monsoreau who desires to marry her, she catches the attention of the Duke of Anjou, the King's brother. Despite his attempt to abuse his power over Diana, Monsoreau uses this incident to his advantage and kidnaps Diana. He convinces her father that it was the Duke who kidnapped her and offers to marry Diana to save her honor. Her father consents, leaving Diana forced into marriage with Monsoreau. She is then introduced to court life where she witnesses political intrigues, deceit, jealousy, and betrayal. Throughout this, only Bussy d'Amboise remains true to his faith.
