Pipe, a 60-year-old farmhand who has spent three decades working on the same property, finds himself at a loss when he discovers that his old-age insurance allowances enable him to retire comfortably. Unable to imagine life without work and with no family or friends to share his newfound freedom with, Pipe buys a moped and sets out to explore the countryside of the Swiss canton of Vaud, seeking a sense of carefree liberation he has never known before.
