Trama
The young Goldmund is sent by his father to study in the monastery Mariabronn where he meets Narcissus, a dedicated religious student. Initially, Goldmund tries to emulate Narcissus' ascetic lifestyle, but their intimate friendship reveals that Goldmund prefers freedom over monastic life. Encouraged by Narcissus, Goldmund embarks on an adventurous journey during which he finds his great love, Lene. Years later, under dramatic circumstances, Narcissus and Goldmund cross paths again.
