Storia
Sveto mesto (A Holy Place) is an adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's short story 'Viy', with a unique twist. The film begins with Catherine, a young woman, dying under mysterious circumstances while transformed into a witch. Her father, a stern and unpleasant man, remains unaware of her death. The narrative then shifts to Toma, a theology student who is tasked by the villagers to read the Psalms over Catherine's corpse for three nights straight in order to prevent supernatural forces from harming him. Throughout these nights, Toma faces terrifying encounters with these forces that attempt to break through the holy circle drawn on the church floor.
