Storia
The story begins with Eric, a Dutch sculptor, reminiscing about his past love through a sculpture he created of her. In flashback, we see him meeting and falling in love with this young woman, whom he later marries. Her parents, especially her shrewish mother, disapprove of their relationship due to Eric's bohemian lifestyle. The couple faces various challenges, including petty jealousies and sexual encounters that strain their marriage. In a climactic scene, these tensions lead to a dramatic event involving vomiting. Following this, the couple separates. Some time later, they reunite briefly before ultimately drifting apart again.
Riassunto
Turks fruit is a Dutch film directed by Paul Verhoeven in 1973, blending elements of melodrama, romance, and eroticism. It's loosely inspired by the novel 'De Kick' by Jan Wolkers, but differs significantly from its source material. The story revolves around Eric, a gifted sculptor, and his tumultuous relationship with a young woman he marries. Their love affair is depicted in flashbacks interspersed with present-day scenes of Eric reflecting on their past. The film explores themes of passion, jealousy, family dynamics, and the complex nature of romantic relationships.
