On July 23 of 1802, the Duchess of Alba hosts an extravagant gala to inaugurate her new palace. Present are prominent figures including the Prime Minister Manuel Godoy, the renowned painter Goya, and Pepita Tudo, Godoy's lover and Goya's model for 'The Nude Maja'. The following morning, the Duchess is found dead in her bed under mysterious circumstances.
