Known professionally as Catherine Deneuve, she is regarded as one of Europe's greatest actresses. Throughout her career, Deneuve has portrayed enigmatic characters in films directed by influential figures such as Jacques Demy, Luis Buñuel, François Truffaut, and Roman Polanski.
