Storia
Louise and Kasper, a Danish-Norwegian couple, live in an isolated villa away from modern life and technology. Louise's long-standing dream to become a mother seems unattainable as she is unable to have children herself. In desperation, she approaches Elena, their Romanian maid, with a proposition: Elena will bear Louise's child as a surrogate mother in exchange for a substantial sum of money. Initially, things seem to go according to plan. However, the pregnancy progresses rapidly and strangely, causing unease and paranoia among the couple. The unborn child starts to exert an ominous influence over their lives, leading to horror and inevitable consequences around its birth.
Riassunto
Shelley (2016) is a Danish-Swedish film directed by Ali Abbasi that blends drama with elements of horror and mystery. Set in a secluded forest villa, the story explores themes of desperation, infertility, and the lengths people will go to achieve their dreams. The movie centers around Louise's desire for motherhood, her pact with Elena, and the terrifying consequences that follow. Although plot details are scarce beyond this central premise and its unsettling outcome, the film is praised for its atmospheric tension and exploration of complex emotions.
