Martha Higareda is a prominent Mexican actress, producer, and screenwriter who gained significant international recognition for her role as Kristin Ortega in the first season of the Netflix sci-fi series Altered Carbon (2018). Born on August 24, 1983, in Villahermosa, Tabasco, she began her acting career at a young age, moving to Mexico City at 14 to pursue theater and film. She made her big-screen debut in 2002 with the critically acclaimed film Amar te duele, which established her as a major star in Latin American cinema.
Beyond her work in Hollywood, Higareda is a powerhouse in the Mexican film industry, often writing and producing her own projects, such as the massive box-office hits Cásese quien pueda and No manches Frida. Her transition to American television includes roles in Royal Pains, Into the Dark, and Queen of the South. Known for her versatility, she seamlessly navigates between intense action roles and lighthearted romantic comedies.
