Born on September 1, 1971, in Solna, Stockholm, Helena af Sandeberg has established herself as one of Sweden’s most versatile and acclaimed actresses. After honing her craft at the legendary Actors Studio in New York City, she returned to Sweden, where she quickly rose to prominence in both film and television. Her breakout role came in the 2005 coming-of-age drama Kim Novak Never Swam in Genesaret's Lake, followed by significant performances in high-profile productions like the crime thriller The Hypnotist and the biopic Cornelis.

Beyond the silver screen, af Sandeberg is a cornerstone of the Swedish theatrical scene, having been a permanent member of the Stockholm City Theatre (Kulturhuset Stadsteatern) since 2003, where she has tackled iconic roles from Hedda Gabler to Anna Karenina. Her television career is equally distinguished, marked by lead roles in series such as Dough and the dramedy The Meaning of Life (Meningen med livet), for which she won the prestigious Kristallen Award for Best Actress in 2025.
