Jessica Alba was born on April 28, 1981, and began her acting career at age 13 with roles in 'Camp Nowhere' and 'The Secret World of Alex Mack'. She rose to prominence at 19 as the lead actress in 'Dark Angel', earning a Golden Globe nomination. Her breakthrough film role was in 'Honey' (2003). Alba has since appeared in numerous films, including 'Fantastic Four', 'Sin City', and 'Valentine's Day'. She is also known for her collaborations with director Robert Rodriguez and starring in the Spectrum series 'L.A.'s Finest' from 2019 to 2020. Additionally, Alba co-founded The Honest Company in 2011.

John Truscott travels to Borneo to work with the Iban people as part of the British colonial government. Upon his arrival, he is given a 'sleeping dictionary,' an local woman named Selima who is meant to help him learn their language and culture. As they spend time together, John develops feelings for Selima despite knowing that relationships between locals and British officials are forbidden. Selima, unaware of John's feelings, considers him a friend. When John confesses his love to Selima, she is taken aback but reciprocates his affection.
