Anna Maxwell Martin (born Anna Charlotte Martin on 10 May 1977) is an English actress known for her versatile roles across stage and screen. She won two British Academy Television Awards, one for her portrayal of Esther Summerson in 'Bleak House' (2005), and another for her role as N in 'Poppy Shakespeare' (2008). Martin has also gained critical acclaim for her performances as DCS Patricia Carmichael in 'Line of Duty' (2019–2021) and Kelly Major in 'Code 404' (2020–2022), and for playing Lyra Belacqua in the National Theatre's production of 'His Dark Materials' (2003–2004). From 2016 to 2022, she starred in the BBC comedy 'Motherland', earning a BAFTA nomination for Best Female Comedy Performance.
